Sorry ladies, he’s one of a kind and simply can’t be found at Sephora or anywhere else online. He’s my little shuggy-bear and you better believe this is a bragging post 😉 I’m kidding. It’s a “where the heck have you been” post that’s featuring my son.
We spent several hours in the ER on Wednesday because rapid bruising completely took over my sons little thighs, legs and feet within a matter of a few hours. It had to have been the scariest thing that I have ever seen, especially because it reminded me so much of a friend I had when I was a child whose mother had leukemia.
I cannot live without this little boy. He. Is. EVERYTHING.
Thankfully, the doctors were very easily able to identify his condition. They did blood-work as a precaution, but explained to us that HSP (or Henoch-Schonlein Purpura) is not life threatening; it’s not super common, but also not rare, it has been around for hundreds of years (and was named as long ago as the 1800’s) and will simply go away in a few weeks (like a normal bruise would). Basically (for whatever reason) his body didn’t react appropriately to a sickness he had earlier in the week, and the blood vestals in his legs had become irritated, and were swelling which is what was causing the bruising effect. Doctors don’t know the exact cause of HSP, but they didn’t seem to be worried so I’m trying not to be either.
He has been a busy little cookie monster the past few days. He’s starting to not just pull himself up to stand, but to shuffle around the ottoman and the couch as well. He will be walking soon! I spent the past week baby proofing the house too and the hell if they don’t make that hard! I told my mom, it was easier to give birth than it was to screw those plastic child safety latches into the cabinets! And Gabriel also had his first Oreo yesterday. That was a hoot.
If any of you wonderful ladies pray, I would love a little prayer or two for my son. Thank you for being you 🙂
