Yesterday was a long day but every bit worth it. I’m actually surprised how much we packed in! First things first, on the way to the hospital (last year, when the contractions hit), we stopped by McDonald’s for breakfast. So I figured we’d just make a family tradition out of it! I wish I had gotten a picture or two, but Gabriel really enjoyed his first McDonald’s hash-brown 🙂
Next, we stopped by Toys-R-Us where Gabriel’s Abuleo bought him a really cool birthday baby-car and some new clothes (since our 12 month old grows like a weed and wears 18 month old clothing).
Then we went to daddy’s favorite hair salon and Gabriel got his first “real” haircut… I cut his hair myself a few weeks ago… yeah… we don’t talk about that…
He did soooooooo well! I think he likes having his hair played with because he didn’t even care that the lady used scissors or the buzzy thingy on the back of his neck.
After that we went home for lunch and a quick nap. Gabriel enjoyed some leftover chicken and some sliced carrots (his favorite), before we headed out again. But this time, to the park. I love this picture of Gabriel and Abuelo smiling at each-other.
Gabriel discovered sticks, and we played one of his favorite games: tag, mommies it!
Here is a picture of Gabriel playing with the bell he got in this months Citrus Lane box. Actually, if you aren’t familiar with this subscription and you have kids I encourage you to check it out. I love that they’re boxes are put together by real parents. You can get 50% off your first box here. This bell gets credit for about 50% of the smiles we got out of Gabriel for pictures.
Of course, we couldn’t leave without getting picture with mommy and daddy 🙂 Look at my two boys! Don’t they look just alike!?
Gabriel had so much fun going down the slide on my lap. Look at those big eyes and that big smile!
Gabriel did NOT enjoy going down the slide by himself and being caught at the bottom. Poor baby 🙁 It was sad… and sort of funny!
He also really liked the swing. I almost fell out a few times though, haha. These are totally not built for two people. Um, or for 26 year old’s LOL.
Gosh, so many toys. And all of them with buttons 🙂 Gabriel loves punching the buttons. Especially on the ones that sing. He lovessssssssss music.
Here is Gabriel chewing on a toy cell phone from Grandpa Rick and Abulea. He was such a good boy sitting in Abulea’s lap while I opened his presents for him. He certainly kept an eye on what I was doing though!
Here’s Gabriel sitting on a little Toy Story car that Uncle Ruslan and Aunt Susha gave him. He also liked the toy camera they gave him.
Abuleo gave him another toy car that he could sit on (we built it after everyone left), Auntie Kaitlyn (my sister) gave him some DVD’s and a gift card for Target so we will find some goodies with that this weekend. His Uncle Christian (my husband’s brother) bought him a really cool interactive book too. I can’t wait to read it with Gabriel later today!
My parents also sent him a bunch of stuff that we opened earlier in the day. He had a blast drumming and shaking the maracas they sent. And he really enjoyed scooting the large car they sent around the house. He was definitely a busy boy and I have a feeling that gift card my sister gave him will be going towards some toy storage for his bedroom…
We did get him a smash cake (not this one) courtesy of Publix. It’s so generous of them to give it to you free when you buy the sheet cake. We took video so that will probably be up on YouTube shortly. But all in all, it was a great birthday and we are so grateful to have such wonderful family.
