Welcome to the unboxing of my first ever 100% cruelty free subscription box! My husband doesn’t know it yet, but a year’s subscription to Vegan Cuts is what he bought me for Christmas 🙂
Essentially, Vegan cuts is a beauty subscription that ships monthly for $19.95 (it comes out to roughly $18 per box though if you prepay for the year). They offer a variety (usually 4-7 samples a month) of vegan products (hair, skin, nails, makeup, etc. etc.) to meet all of your Vegan and cruelty-free needs 🙂
Honestly, I was a bit hesitant to subscribe at first. I’m totally all about fair treatment of animals, but I’m not really into holistic and indie products. Call me shallow, I like to stick with known brands. But Vegan Cuts seemed to offer a good variety of both so I figured why not give it a shot and see how it goes, right?
I’m already regretting it. I don’t know if I’m a name brand snob, or if I’ve been spoiled by subscriptions like Birchbox and Glossybox where you get so much bang for your buck, or if I was just fortunate enough to get all the beauty products that I don’t like from ANY brand in one box, but I’m not impressed by the December Vegan Cuts box at all. And I’m really hoping I didn’t make a $200 mistake.
LVX Nail Polish in Espresso – I’m excited to try something from this brand because I’ve heard good things but this has got to be the ugliest nail color I’ve ever seen in my life. Brown? The color of a turd? Really?
Bellapierre Nail Polish in Pearl White – Scratch that previous statement. Opal is truly the ugliest nail color I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m 26, not 83.
Delizioso Skin Care Cream Blush in Outrageous – This little guy had the cutest packaging of everything in the box (it came in a cute little floral box-purse thing), but I hate cream blush. No reason in particular other than I just don’t like the dewy, creamy feel of any product on my face so I stick 100% to powders. I did try this for the sake of the review and it is a very pigmented, rosy shade. I just don’t like it.
21 Drops Essential Oil Therapy in Sleep – This is a 100% natural aromatherapy vial that is supposed to help with insomnia. Considering I work full time, have school, mommy and wife duties, falling asleep is the easiest thing I do all day. But my husband does have a hard time so I’m going to test this bad boy out on him. It’s too bad there are like… 10 drops in this tiny ass vile.
Landeva Organics Hair and Body Oil – The sample size on this baby wasn’t too bad at 0.17 oz. I’m just now getting into hair and body oils, and while I thankfully don’t really suffer with dry skin, I’m anxious to see what I can do about the frizz mop I call hair.
North Coast Organics All Natural Spray Lotion – This is also a decently sized sample at 0.135 oz. My senses are quite perplexed, however… it smells like lotion… but feels like water… kinda feeling jipped on this one.
Do you subscribe to any Vegan or cruelty free subscriptions? What did you think of the Vegan Cuts December box? Let me know!
