I left my Sudoku at home by accident today so I figured I’d exorcise the organ in my head a bit by creating my very first tag! With all of the end of the year “best of” posts going on right now, “The Best of 2014 Beauty Tag” seemed like the obvious choice. I tried to not be repetitive, but at the same time these are things I n-e-e-d to know about you! That’s why I made it! So spill.
I also answered them myself, and if you are concerned this will will look like the my Top 14 Discoveries of 2014 post, don’t worry your pretty little head because there are very few overlaps!
The Best of 2014 Beauty Tag
Best Palette? Mostly because I can’t put it down lately, I’d have to go with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna palette. It’s just such a gorgeous fall palette! And the color “Sangria” is right on par with the Pantone color of the year (Marsala).
Best drugstore find? Probably the e.l.f. baked blush in “Pinktastic;” It’s such a pretty gold/pink highlight! And only $3! I use it every single day.
Best book or show? I am a lover of Pretty Little Liars, but I’m getting kind of bored… they need to wrap this B (or should I say “A”) up already! So with that having been said, Witches of East End all the way. As for book, I loved the Lunar Chronicles and can’t wait for the release of Fairest on January 27th!
Best return (something you couldn’t get back to the store fast enough)? I’m going to have to say the Sonia Kashuk Precious Gems palette. It had been tempting me for ages and I finally caved in December but the texture was terrible. Do you know the fuss that everyone was making over Gothica from the KVD Star Studded palette? They all felt like that 😛
Best nail polish color? Anything purple. There was just something about it this year that got me… a nice light lavender for Spring and Summer and a nice deep plum for Fall and now Winter.
Best highend find? The Urban Decay Pulp Fiction palette! I can’t believe it was at Nordstrom Rack for just $16! This palette (though a bit powdery) is so amazing; it has everything you need for a well defined every day look (and great for that grunge trend going around).
Best lip product and color? We all know how I feel about my EOS balms but I’m going to have to say that the Too Faced La Creme Lipsticks were the best lip product of 2014 for me. Both shades I have (Believe and Teddy Berry) are dusty rose like shades that I love, and they are smooth like a balm, have pretty good color payoff, and don’t require a liner!
Best hair product? Hello, Macadamia Professionals Deep Repair Mask. Yes, it was expensive but I only use it 2 times a week with whatever leftover shampoo I have in the shower (I always use up the conditioner faster). It’s been 2 months since I purchased and I’m not even half way through.
Best skin product? The Body Shop Warming Mineral Mask is my favorite mask of all time. Now that I see what a real mask can do, I can’t help but wonder what kind of damage I was really doing to my skin with that Freeman crap.
Best moment? I’d say the highlight of our year was just taking some time off work and taking a road trip with my hubby and G-baby from Florida up through Georgia and the Carolina’s. We loved Greenville, SC and hope to move their in the future. We also stopped by Paula Deans restaurant in Savannah, GA and I saw her out on the street and she waved to me! Ah! LOL 🙂
Best overall highend brand? I mostly asked this question out of curiosity for what everyone else would say. Too Faced is a brand that I got to try a good variety of products from this year, and there are many that I love but I haven’t tried enough of other brands to say Too Faced is better than others… just that I really love them 🙂
Best overall drugstore brand? e.l.f., without a doubt. Sure, there are misses along with those hits but they have been so impressive this year and I consider several of their products ride or die for me.
Best place to shop? Target. Seriously, I have a problem. I’ve resolved to no longer do grocery shopping at Target as of this past week because I always end up looking at EVERYTHING else in the store. Plus they sale my favorite yogurt (Noosa) which is like $2.50 per serving (kick me)… that’s almost $20 a week! So I’m boycotting Target for the sake of my bank account. Starbucks is next on my boycott list followed closely by Sephora and then Ulta.
Best place to eat? I think that the best place to eat in 2014 was a sushi restaurant in Brandon, Fl called “Tsunami.” My husband and I love this life out of this place!
I tag all of my readers! Seriously. If you read this, please do this tag because I’d love to see your answers. It would take me too long to write out a list of people to complete it so get goin!
Per usual with these tag posts, most of these pictures aren’t mine. But if you click them they will take you to the site I found them on!
