While the world is buzzing about the new Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar release (which I’m not really sold on quite yet), I’ve been obsessing over the all matte Tarte Spring 2015 (permanent, I might add) release: the “tartelette.” Too cute, right?
What can I say, I’ve been on a matte kick lately.
This palette is probably roughly the size of your hand but at 0.05 oz per shadow (12 total shadows = 1.5 g), there is a decent amount of product included for $44. But instead of babbling on for hours and hours, I thought I’d just toss together a quick list of pros and cons for you guys and get straight to the point: should you buy it!?
The packaging is sturdy, the mirror is a fair size and quality, and the overall feel is expensive! Love, love.
The names are on the packaging (and all adorable, btdubs).
For matte shadows, there really isn’t much powder! I notice no fall out either.
Most of the shades are both pigmented & creamy.
The color selection is sublime; you have everything you need to be neutral or a little flirty and fabulous!
A few were a bit streaky, but with a little blending that can be sorted out.
These weren’t the easiest shadows of all time to blend, although I will say that for matte, they weren’t bad.
I’m actually even more impressed with this palette than I thought I would be. Tarte didn’t try to be so unique that none of the shadows would work well together (*clears throat* I’m talking to you TheBalm #MeetMatteNude), but neither were they so safe that all you get is good ole brown… love the fun purple shades!
Also, aside from the darker Bombshell, Dreamer and Multi-tasker shades, all of the shades were exceptionally smooth (the three I singled out were a bit streaky, but can be buffed out with a little work); and furthermore, I’ve been able to create looks that actually look different from my normal every looks! Which reminds me to tell you that I’m REALLY impressed with the staying power too. I’ve been usine the Milani primer lately (it’s like $7 at the drugstore) and I see more staying power with these shadows than a lot of my Urban Decay shadows even!
Should You Buy it?
Remeber, this is a part of the Tarte permanent collection so there is no rush if you aren’t sure. If you like matte eyeshadows or are looking for a good assortment to pair with glittery shadows in your collection, I think this one is a great option. It is a bit on the warm side so you have to know what you life before you make a commitment here. Also, there are a lot of purple shades so if you have blue eyes this may not be the best matte palette for you. I do hope to compare the It Cosmetics Celebration palette soon though in case anyone is debating the two 🙂 But in general? I love it and say go for it 🙂
Edit: The more I use this palette, the more manageable it becomes. All of the shadows that once swatched patchy are now just as smoothe as the rest!
