If you read my 10 Resolutions I Will Not Make for 2015 then you already know how I feel about New Years Resolutions. In fact, I find the entire concept of setting long-term goals completely overwhelming and discouraging without an effective plan-of-action and realistic expectations.
Now, that doesn’t mean that I just run through life flying by the seat of my pants (as my dad would say); quite contrarily, list making is my life. I just prefer my resolutions to be short-term and attainable.
So if the resolutions that you made 3 months ago were a total flop and life is kicking your ass right now, I thought I’d help inspire you a little by sharing with you my Spring Buck List.
♥ create 3 homemade dinners a week for the next 3 months ♥
I need to stop feeding my family frozen shit. Is it cheap, fast and easy? Yes. Does it taste ok? Sometimes. Is it good for you? No. So I’m going to start by testing out recipes that I find online and in magazines on my family. I mean, it can’t get any worse than it is right now, right!? Now here is where we talk about the realistic and attainable part: Will I be able to go from junk food goddess to domestic goddess overnight? Uh hell no… not unless we hit the lottery and I can sit on my ass all day. But I do have two days off a week and I don’t see any reason why I can’t take on 1 more during the work week to toss together something in half an hour.
♥ wash my car every other month ♥
I’m not a pig, you guys. I do keep my car “picked up” but having a 17 month old is pretty much the equivalent of a goldfish-waffle-m&m’s hurricane in the back seat. And. Don’t judge me. But I haven’t washed the outside of my car in over a year :-X I know! It’s terrible. I’m going to start this weekend by cleaning it top to bottom AND replacing the mats and getting some seat covers. The sad part is, I actually enjoy washing my car when I’m washing it, it’s just making myself get up to go do it that’s the problem (aka laziness).
So I figure I can muster up the energy 1 day out of 60 to actually get-er-dunn.
♥ buy clothes that actually fit me ♥
At 170 lbs, I’m not where I want to be (I was 125 lbs when I met my husband in 2011) but I’ve sure made a lot of progress since the 230 lbs that I was right before giving birth to my son. Sure, he accounted for some of that but who’s counting 😉 I do have a serious problem though; I keep buying clothes for “when I get skinny” instead of clothes for now.
Am I the only one who does this?! Is it totally nuts!? It’s far surpassed the point where I spend 20 minutes a morning just trying to find something that fits and crying when it doesn’t. And while I keep intending to diet, I’ve been the same 170 lbs for a year now. So you know what? It’s time to embrace my kinda beautiful and just do some shopping!
♥ drink a glass of water every morning and every night ♥
I know I should drink more than that, but baby steps people, baby steps! My skin has been breaking out like crazy the past few months and I don’t know if it’s all the different products I’ve been trying or if it’s just the fact that I practically live off of diet soda, energy drinks and coffee (it’s probably both), but it’s time to focus more on my health, and I figure a little water is the best place to start. Am I going to drink 64 oz a day? Uh, not if I want to stick to it. But I figure a glass in the morning in place of that coffee, and a glass at night in place of whatever pre-bed-snack-craving I acquire will not only help the cause, buy maybe even help the waste-line too 😉
♥ get rid of the hoard-fest that is my scrapbooking collection ♥
Have I ever mentioned to you guys that I’m flighty? Scrapbooking was an obsession of mine in 2012 that lasted pretty much that… until the end of 2012. I have soooooooooo much stuff. I don’t want to just give it away because I spent so much on the collection, but I for sure want to make it a priority this season to post everything for sale on Ebay.
So that’s it! My Spring Bucket List for 2015. God, I hope you guys don’t think any less of me after reading about my car cleaning habits! But something about sharing struggles always seems to up the motivation ante (at least for me); And because I care about your resolution-well-being, I took the liberty to create for you a little to-do list:
