There is a 90% chance you have never seen this eyeshadow palette before and here’s why: it’s cool toned and according to a survey I recently did* only about 1% of the galaxy is into cool toned palettes. Which means it’s damn near impossible to find. AND YET, you are currently looking at my most repurchased makeup product OF ALL TIME.
Seven. That’s the number of times I’ve purchased this palette since I discovered it over a decade ago.
I’m aging myself, aren’t I?
So when I saw it at Ulta the other day (on clearance for like $5, no less) I just had to pick it up for old times sake and see if it’s as good as I remember it.
Let me start by saying that 27 year old Kaily wants to slap 17 year old Kaily just for the simple fact that she used to be able to pull of a 100% shimmery eye look (as this palette contains 0 mattes in it).
And now that I use like 10 different NORMAL SIZED eyeshadow brushes every freaking day of my life, I honestly have no clue how you are supposed to get your damn brush into each of these individual shades without picking up a little of another color (I used to use a tiny little travel brush that I got in one of those L’oreal HIP pigments and it fit just perfectly into each of the little strips; then I would just swipe the bristles back and forth against my finger over and over again until it was “clean enough” to dip it in the next color).
Also, I freaking hate how these shadows are poured on top of each other. Think of a gob-stopper. You know how once you get through one layer, there are more? Well once you get through one shade, there is a second layer of the color that’s to the right of it. For example, underneath that dark brown at the bottom of the palette, there is that light brown shade next to it. And underneath that light brown, there is that pink (and so on and so forth). Ehhh, let’s just say your eyes end up looking more like sisters than twins if you’re not careful.
BUT to be honest, the pigmentation, wear time and blendablity of these shadows are well worth the pedestal I’ve placed them on in my makeup-memory and I’ve got to admit that I still love this palette. If you’re into soft, rosy, girly looking makeup, give it a try!
*Survey was done by me, just now, and only I was polled. Sounded legit, though, right!?
