So, today I thought I’d do something fun and creative like create my very own tag! But I’m too lazy for that, so I borrowed this one from The Enthusiast Blog. Enjoy!
1. What is your favorite Christmas film?
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. I don’t even have to think about it. But I also love Home Alone (1 and 2), The Santa Clause (1 and 2), A Christmas Story, The Grinch, The Muppet Christmas Carol and much, much more! Plus anything on Hallmark cause I’m sappy like that.
2. Have you ever had a White Christmas?
Yes! I lived in Indiana for a while while I was a child and I remember the snow being over a foot tall. I also lived in Tennessee for many years and it snowed every year. I miss it sooo much. In Florida it hardly even gets cold.
3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
I like to stay home but my husband’s family is here in Florida so we often visit them for the holiday.
4. What is your favorite Christmas song?
I love all of the classics: Silent Night, Do You Hear What I Hear, O Holy Night, The Little Drummer Boy…CAROL OF THE BELLS I’m just dying to see performed live. That may sound silly… but I swear it’s on my bucket list! But my FAVORITE is “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel.”
5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
It’s so funny, the chick I borrowed this tag from said that she and her brother were allowed to open only one gift on Christmas Eve as kids and it was always PJ’s… it’s funny cause it was like that in my house too! I used to hate it. The last set I remember getting I think I was 16 or 17 and it was a matching set with sheep all over it. Yuck. But I guess I get it now cause PJ’s are my favorite thing to buy for my son now 🙂
6. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph!
7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
My son just turned two this past October, so I’m looking forward to this being his first Christmas unwrapping gifts. I haven’t been to church in many years, so I miss Christmas service… the older I get and the more I think about religion the more I’m not so sure I know what I believe in anymore. But I like how Christmas makes me feel… so maybe we’ll find a church and go at least for that service.
8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. This is a recession.
9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/sweet treat?
Fruitcake. Shut up, it’s freaking delicious!
10. Be honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?
I love giving gifts and looking for just the right present! I don’t like getting gifts because I don’t like the pressure to like something that I most likely won’t… I would NEVER tell someone I don’t like their gift, but now I have to hurry and fake enthusiasm and then remember to use the damn thing whenever you’re around! So honestly I prefer to just NOT do gift exchanges.
11. What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
When I was in the 3rd or 4th grade my mom gave me a pot-holder weaving set. I had sooo much fun with it that I would steal my sisters cloth pieces when she wasn’t paying attention and weave more pot-holders. Also, Samantha, my American Girl doll. I spent so many hours changing her clothes, reading her stories and making up my own.
12. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
New York. Specifically the hotel Kevin stayed at in Home Alone 2.
13. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?
I’m a solid C student.
14. Most memorable Holiday moment?
When I was 7ish we went to see the Nutcracker for my sister’s birthday. I remember my mom had dressed us up in matching red dresses/coats and it was so cold because they had set the stage over ice at the hockey rink. I don’t remember if we lived in Indiana or Tennessee yet? At the time, I wasn’t that excited but looking back that was probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. I wish I could remember it better.
15. What made you realize the truth about Santa?
I was never told Santa was real and I’m thankful for it. I’ll never understand where the fun is in lying to your children? And for such a stupid thing.
16. Do you make New Years resolutions? Do you stick to them?
New Years resolutions are bullshit. If you can’t change something on one of the other 364 days in the year, WTF makes you think you’ll start on the 1st!? I still make them though, haha.
17. What makes the holidays special for you?
Really, I think my mom? She always loved Christmas and I just remember no matter how broke we were she always had the house full of decorations, Amy Grant Christmas music and cinnamon pine-cones/cinnamon apple candles. Plus I spent the first 5 or so years of my adult life working retail so you pretty much HAVE to like Christmas music or the months of November and December will kill you…
