Welcome to my first ever makeup swap you guys! I honestly wasn’t sure that I would ever want to do one of these after a not so great experience I had when I first started blogging. SHORT STORY: I bought a bunch of things to swap with a friend I made and then never heard from her again… thank God I never shipped any of it! I know Karen was nervous about this too cause there are stories all over the internet of people being ripped off this way. THANK GOD THAT’S NOT THE CASE HERE!
Although… WARNING : Karen totally outdid me. We both agreed on a budget for this swap but that girl can SHOP. So don’t judge the shit out of me when you see the plethora of things she bought me and then wonder over to her post HERE and say, “that bitch only sent you like 2 things!” There were totally 6.
Not to mention the packaging. Just look at this. She literally hand-wrapped everything… I’m praying she doesn’t include any pictures of my “wrapping” in her post cause I literally stuffed the box with used (but clean) Target shopping bags…
What can I say, after years of selling on Ebay, I’ve become quite resourceful.
Karen even sent me some Godiva chocolates and a Paw Patrol toy for my son! HOW FREAKING THOUGHTFUL!!?? He saw it and went, *deep intake of breath* “pawl tatule!!??”
I’ve only had the box for 3 days and I’ve already used just about everything so I’m going to show you and give you mini-reviews!
TheBalm “Put a Lid on it” Eye Primer – Besides eyeshadow (and this fail) I’ve never actually tried any of the balms other products, so I was SUPER excited to see this! The texture kinda reminds me of a thin Vaseline. It’s very moisturizing so it would be great if you have dry lids and it’s done a great job of keeping my shadow in place!
Acure Mask – I haven’t tried this one yet cause I really only find time to mask on the weekends, but I can’t wait to. I love Acure, and funny enough actually sent Karen two of their oils that I really enjoy as well!
PUR Palette – I was soooooooooooooo excited to see this palette! Karen and I both told eachother ahead of time that we’d picked up a palette and me having no patience I literally racked my brain trying to think of what palette she might have picked out for me… It’s matte, it’s mauve and it’s my first PUR product! What else is there to love!!??
Flower Beauty FF Cream – They really should just call this a primer cause that’s basically what it is. It reminds me a lot of the Smashbox Photo Finish Light primer that I love and just ran out of so I’m REALLY enjoying this. Basically it fills in pores and matifies my face leaving a nice and even canvas for foundation. I do feel my face start to get a bit oily at around 6 hours of foundation wear but that’s normal for me with any primer.
Flower Beauty BB Cream – I don’t really wear BB creams because they leave my face feeling greasy within an hour or two but I wore this around the house the other day and actually really like it. It’s a good match for my skin and has a nice light coverage that reminds me of the Urban Decay Naked foundation that I love. I’m excited to use this more!
Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick in Rose Naturelle – This is a bit darker than what I’m used to (totally a Karen shade) but I actually really like it on me. I’ve also always wanted to try a Pixi lipstick! I just love the packaging, it reminds me of retro Clinique 🙂
Colorpop Lipstick in “Contempo” – This is one of the items I was most excited about because I’ve never tried anything from Colorpop and I can’t believe that Karen remembered me telling her that! I was wearing it in this video if you’re interested. I was really impressed with how comfortable it was and how long wearing too!
Burt’s Bee’s Hibisucus Balm – You guys, I can’t even begin to tell you how chapped my lips are right now. The flavor on ALL of my lipbalms is making me so sick with the pregnancy naseaua bs so I just quit using them. I was a bit scared to try this one but it’s NOT overpowering at all and I love the slight tint that it gives!
Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Blush in “Video” – This is another product that when I saw it really made my eyes pop! I’ve been wanting one of these since they came out but I’ve been pinching pennies! And the color is a perfect attestation to how well Karen knows me: it’s matte and neutral as hell 🙂
Physicians Formula Bronzer – This is one of the newer bronzers PF has released and I was excited to recieve it! My Too Faced Chocolate Soliel bronzer is on it’s last leg and it’s not in the budget to replace it any time soon so this couldn’t have come at a better time.
Sonia Kashuck Crease Brush – Karen included her favorite crease brush! And I’ve got to admit that I see why she loves it. This brush is so dense and precise that it’s perfect for really packing color into that crease!
Honestly you guys, I’m amazed at so many things right now. Of course I’m excited about all of my goodies, but I’m just in awe of how thoughtful and detail oriented Karen was with everything that she selected. I know she spent a lot of time and did a lot of research and bargain hunting to find me all of these things and I’m just amazed at the color selections and how well she knows me.
Karen, thank you again! I really don’t even know how to express how grateful I am for all the time, energy, research and money you put into this swap. I really hope you enjoy the products I sent you as well!
Alright, peeps. You can go check out what I sent Karen here.
