I have been really, really lucky the past couple of months. Not only did I win not ONE but TWO giveaways (thank you Jen and Tess). I also got to do a swap with another blogger that I love, Karen! The moral of the story is, I had a TON of new products to play with in February 🙂
Heritage Farms Rose Petals Rosewater
You can pick up 4 oz for less than $5 on Vitacost and I definitely will! This little gem was without a doubt the highlight of Tess’ giveaway and I see why she raves about it so much! Basically, this is just a rose petal infused water that you spritz over your face and body for hydration or for a little bit of aromatherapy. The scent wears away within a matter of seconds, but the product is refreshing and quite relaxing. This is a new love for sure! P.S. you can *get $10 off your next Vitacost order with my referal link.
Acure Cell Stimulating Facial Mask
Another product that I’ve been loving (which you can also find on Vitacost) is this mask Karen sent me! This green mud-like mask was so much fun to apply. My son refused to kiss me while I was wearing it. He’d scrunch up his nose and tell me “ew” lol, but it was far from ew! For one, it doesn’t dry down completely so it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight and dehydrated when I’m done with it. And for two, it did a pretty good job of clearing out pores and just leaving me with an overall “fresh” face. So if you’re looking for an affordable mask (less than $10) that will clear out some pores without drying out your face, give this one a try!
Celestial Color Cosmetics Sugar Lipscrubs
I heard about these from Luna Faye Beauty when she mentioned the brand in her January Favorites. Kayla always finds the best indie brands so I was literally on the stores site within seconds of her mentioning them. I ordered the Solar Strawberry (tastes/smells like strawberry shortcake) scrub and the Celestial Cupcake (tastes/smells like a vanilla cupcake). I love these cause they are unique, you get a ton of product (she literally STUFFS the packaging) and they’re affordable. I got both for less than $16 (and that’s with the shipping). Highly, HIGHLY recommend!
Julep Nail Polish in Helen
I’ve probably mentioned this one in a faves before. I call her “ol’ trusty.” This shade really isn’t anything special… it’s just a nudey-pink that will last me 5 days with just 1 coat and never fails me when I’m tired of color. Sadly, it’s not available anymore, but let me just say, I would never actually spend $14 on a Julep nail polish anyway (got this in one of their subscription boxes). If you’ve never tried Julep before, you can *use my referral link to get your first box for $2.99 (which is just the shipping).
Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Blush in Rose Pearl
Another product I wouldn’t pay full price for (it’s $12 on the PF website), but one that I enjoy none the less. I got mine 2 Black Fridays ago on a Walgreen’s Pit-Stop (I hate that term). It was 75% off (now that’s my kinda deal)! I don’t wear it a whole lot cause I’m more a matte blush kinda girl (shocker, I know) but every so often I enjoy the angelic glow this blush gives my face. It doesn’t have the best lasting power, but the flush is just so pretty and natural looking that it’s hard not to love it 🙂
The two palettes that I’ve been loving this month are from PUR and Urban Decay and I didn’t buy either one! I won the Urban Decay/Gwen collab palette (on the left) in Jen’s giveaway and then Karen sent me the PUR palette as part of our swap!
Urban Decay & Gwen Stefani Collaboration
Let me start off by saying that before any of us even knew what shades would be in this palette, I knew I wanted it. So I can’t even tell you how excited I was to win it in Jen’s giveaway! Like most people, I was kinda surprised at how neutral it is. Even though Gwen’s makeup is very basic, I guess I expected something Vice style with all her crazy rocker-chick dress-wear! So, I’m not going to lie, it took me awhile to get into this palette. A lot of the lighter shades are practically the same and the pigmentation on the two matte shades that most people would use in the crease isn’t the best (typical UD quality). I also think the pops of color that Gwen chose are kind-of strange. BUTTTTTTTTTT…… I get it now, and I’ve really been loving this palette for more understated looks.
Pur Mineral Soul Mattes Palette
Karen clearly knows me too well… it’s matte, pinky/mauve and cruelty free… what more could a girl ask for!? I’ve actually been looking at this palette for awhile in Ulta so I was super excited that Karen included it in our makeup swap. I’m surprisingly in love with that warm-toned brown as a transition shade and I’ve actually been using it to pair with the Gwen palette I just mentioned! I’ll do a full review soon, but for now it’s definitely been one that I’ve been loving!
Oh regrets, how I resent the…
Elf Makeup Mist & Set
I tried to love this, I just can’t. It’s seriously just water in a bottle… Every time I use it, my makeup separates and you can see where the water fell. I don’t recommend this unless you WANT to look like a cheetah…
Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel Polish
Lies and propaganda, I tell you! Nothing about these polishes is “gel.” They aren’t that shiny and they chip the same day! I reviewed the pink one here and was soooo UN-impressed, but decided to run out and grab another after hearing rave reviews from YouTubers. The blue one doesn’t chip quite as dramatically but still chipped the same day. Save yo’ monies honies!
