I love reading year round, but especially during the Winter. There is just something extra special about finding a few moments of peace and curling up with cozy socks, a warm drink and a book.
But now that I’m a mom of two small boys under the ages of 3, I don’t have as much time to read as a I used to. I’m not sad about it, though! These days I just find more creative ways to experience books instead (like reading in my car on lunch breaks at work or listening to audio books as I clean or fold laundry).
But no matter how I get it done, here are the books I hope to get through this Winter:
I discovered the The Six of Crows Duology from my friend Lisa. The story follows a band of 17-ish year old thieves, convicts, spies and runaways as they attempt to pull off the heist of the century. I don’t quite know how the story goes because I love being surprised, but I’m imagining a younger version of Oceans 11 (which I am a-okay with).
I’m not normally into creepy things, but every once in awhile the mood strikes me. I found “Say Her Name” through a book review and since I pretty much always love what Michelle recommends I’m excited for it!
Essentially it’s about a young girl in a boarding school who gets bored and says bloody Mary 5 times. She wakes up the next morning and the next morning and basically discovers that she’s got 5 days before Mary is coming for her…
I also really enjoy browsing the book department at Target and just picking something based off the packaging and the blurb alone. Such is the case with The 5th Wave. It helps that it was made into a movie too. I’ll probably never watch the movie because the books are always better, but I figure if it was a good enough book to toss a few million into to make a movie, then I should read it.
You can learn more about the story line on Goodreads.
