I began the Atkins diet again yesterday. I have some reservations about how “healthy” this diet is for my weight (correction: I know it’s not healthy), but I feel like I need a change and some fast results . Otherwise, I feel like I’m going to keep floating in the 170’s forever.
It’s definitely not a long-term commitment, but I am going to stick with it for the next 2 weeks and we’ll see how it goes. The last time I tried this diet I lost around 10 lbs in about that time frame so let’s cross our fingers!
Some of my favorite things about the Atkins diet are that:
- I never feel hungry
- I find myself cooking and trying new recipes a lot more
- I save money avoiding meals out and fast food
- I eat a LOT more vegetables
- I eliminate a lot of processed foods while I’m on it
- You really do see results, and you see them fast
Some things I don’t like about the Atkins diet:
- It can become very boring
- I miss cake!
- I feel like my breath is sooo bad… because of it
Besides the whole bad breath bit (oh well), I feel there are a lot more pros than cons. And if you’re willing to put in a little work cooking you really can get some creative results!
Pinterest helps of course. I have a “Low Carb Eats” board to help get you started!
Also the pictures for this post come from the website Long Live Health Tips and it features their delicious looking low-carb tacos. The shells are made of cheese! I’m making this for dinner tonight. I’ll keep you posted.
P.S. I think we all know I’m not a dietitian, so you should totally NOT sue me if you try Atkins and don’t like the results. K, thanks!
