Awhile back I shared with you guys that I had started a low-carb diet. I have to confess that I wasn’t exactly, necessarily, totally and completely as dedicated to the diet as I could have been. But overall I’m very happy with the results and I feel very successful.
Week 1: I lost 5 lbs and stayed dedicated the whole week!
Week 2: I lost 3 lbs but probably could have lost more if I didn’t eat cake and Taco Bell on my brother’s birthday :-X Sorry, not sorry. I also had a few salads with breaded chicken instead of grilled chicken which wasn’t ideal but it was better than eating a burger and fries.
Week 3: Even though I “maintained” the diet this week I did gain 2 lbs. I would keep my carbs low during the day, but because my step-daughter was visiting from Tennessee we ate out somewhat frequently and I did splurge in the evenings (Starbucks, Ice Cream, etc. etc.). Come the weekend I gave up entirely and I pretty much ate nothing but carbs Friday, Saturday, Sunday… and Monday and Tuesday :-X
I’m honestly surprised I didn’t gain more than 2 lbs.
Starting Weight: 171 lbs
Ending Weight: 165 lbs
The Noticeable Difference:
- My wedding ring finally fits!
- My jawline and collar bones are thinner and more defined
- The size 10 jeans I was excited about squeezing into on my 29th birthday (April 12th) now fit perfectly
- I can now (snugly) wear size Medium tops
- Someone at work called me “skinny” the other day – THAT made my weekend
Feelings and Thoughts:
I do feel disappointed in myself for the Week 3 regression and the loss of where I could have been right now had I hung in there. But 6 lbs is still 6 lbs. And I enjoyed being able to eat what the rest of the family was eating for a bit without going absolutely crazy and gaining 6 lbs instead!
Also I need to start exercising. I’ve gotten out of the habit of walking on my breaks at work and even still that’s not enough. I did 40 squats this morning and I thought I was going to die. But I didn’t! So I guess I’ll be aiming for 50 tomorrow 😀
I’m also starting back on Atkins today (I use the term “Atkins” loosely… more to come) so I’ll see you with an update in another 3 weeks!
